New to the reseller world.

Posted by coeot, 06-07-2008, 01:18 AM
Hi there all, I am new to the reselling world and was just looking for some pointers and recommendations to a good host. I have looked around a lot and still need some more advice before I jump in. Thanks, Liam

Hi there! Can you please specify your requirements ? Depending on your requirements, you can choose USA , UK or offshore servers

Posted by coeot, 06-07-2008, 01:37 AM
I would like something in the US. As I am just starting off maybe something small that allows me to get a grip on things. Linux servers would be great as I am experience in CPanel. Also the host would have to have plan for me to upgrade as I grow my business. Thanks for the fast reply, Liam

As you are in NZ, a west coast server would be better. Do you open for other control panels like DirectAdmin? Or just cPanel. DA is very easy to use and very stable. You can check demo at http://www.directadmin.com

Posted by coeot, 06-07-2008, 03:49 AM
I am open to other control panels. I would prefer something easy to use though.

For linux hosting environnment, I would recommand cPanel...

Posted by coeot, 06-07-2008, 04:47 AM
Any recommendations for a host. I saw WebHostingBuzz and thought they look good.

Posted by coeot, 06-07-2008, 08:01 AM
Also another question. I was looking around and could some one please explain to me the differences between master reseller and reseller? Also comments on Hosty.net? Are they reputable? Thanks, Liam

Posted by hD-Scott, 06-07-2008, 09:30 AM
I would recommend innohosting for a reseller account. They have servers in the LA datacenter as well as others. A master reseller account allows you to sell other reseller accounts and shared hosting and a regular reseller account allows you to sell shared hosting only. You can do both at inno!

Posted by coeot, 06-07-2008, 04:23 PM
Can you direct me to the page with reseller hosting on their site. I can't seem to find it.

Posted by domaincart, 06-07-2008, 04:54 PM
Do you have an account at Innohosting? If you have what is their support response time in average?

Posted by hD-Scott, 06-07-2008, 05:21 PM
I do and it's usually within 30 minutes if not sooner. They're support has been excellent when I needed it. I only needed it when setting up my account because since then, everything's perfect. I'm glad I went with inno and haven't looked back! They have a complete package, reasonable costs, fast servers, great support, whmcs, free ssl cert, $6.95 domain reseller account with tons of tlds, what more can you ask for?

Posted by ErnieQ, 06-07-2008, 07:29 PM
Have you checked out the reseller hosting offers section on the forum.. There are some great hosts in there with good deals..

Posted by PremiumHost, 06-07-2008, 09:37 PM
powermonster.net seems to be hosted with innohosting. coeot, you can try this link to request quote from hosting providers. A cpanel reseller account is good for new starter.

Leaning towards innohosting or webhostingbuzz. Any comments about the two? What one would you recommend?

Posted by hD-Scott, 06-07-2008, 09:46 PM
Here's the direct link to innohosting's reseller page: http://innohosting.com/resellers.html

I've had a site hosted with webhostingbuzz for a few years (benedictsclass.com), but their servers were quite slow and their email servers went down frequently for short periods of time, but it seemed like it was daily that I couldn't connect. I've never used their reselling services. I was on the shark server and as I've said, it was quite slow.

Any information on innohosting's daily morning backups. The link on their site appears to be missing the page for me.

Posted by hD-Scott, 06-07-2008, 10:15 PM
They do do daily backups but also warn that you should also maintain backups. You can also purchase backup options through them if you need more robust options.

Posted by gate2vn, 06-07-2008, 10:18 PM
I believe most hosts do have backups. However, some use it for management purpose only. Customers are to be in charge of backing up their data. You should contact them first

JaguarPC is a great company to go through.

I noticed on InnoHosting's website that they offer billing and technical support for your customers. Does anyone have any experience wuth this, and how transparent and easy it is to set up?

Posted by hD-Scott, 06-08-2008, 09:46 AM
it is completely transparent and they just upgraded to a new version. A VERY simple integration package with whmcs is coming in a week or so. I'm currently beta testing it. It's easy to set up and you can set up which departments (sales, support, billing, etc) go to inno and which stay with you. At any time, you can answer any tickets sent to inno through the enduser support interface. Works well and all inno support techs are US based.

You may want to get a reseller account from hostgator, they have many positive reviews on wht.

Does InnoHosting offer WHMCS? And can I buy more webspace and bandwidth as necessary? Last edited by coeot; 06-08-2008 at 11:34 PM. Reason: Another Question

Posted by coeot, 06-08-2008, 11:37 PM
Never mind the first question, solved it myself.

Posted by hD-Scott, 06-08-2008, 11:41 PM
Yes, you can add-on bandwidth and webspace. I'm telling you, you can't go wrong with inno. Rameen and Chris are the best and they're very customer oriented.

There is also a very nice community of people to help you too

or just shoot the breeze! Gosh, you're everywhere Dana!

ponders * is that a good thing or a bad thing?

Posted by coeot, 06-09-2008, 01:08 AM
Is it worthwhile getting the unbranded WHMCS addon?

Posted by hD-Scott, 06-09-2008, 01:16 AM
I'm not sure it's really worthwhile. Unless you skin it extensively, most people who know, will recognize it. Those who don't, won't and won't care if it has powered by whmcs on the bottom. At least that's my opinion.

I was looking at HostLegal.com and I saw their Reseller Pricing Solution. Does anyone know what this as I get a 404 error when I try to view info on it. Also can I place my own brand logo and header at the top of WHMCS without unbranding it? Last edited by coeot; 06-09-2008 at 02:45 AM. Reason: Another question

Posted by Laci, 06-09-2008, 07:28 AM
yes and a footer too

Posted by coeot, 06-09-2008, 09:14 PM
So yeah, can anyone give me details about what the Reseller Pricing Solution is? Thanks, Liam

Posted by Laci, 06-09-2008, 09:50 PM
it depends on the size of your package, how much you pay for your package and your addtional( if any ) overhead.

Posted by coeot, 06-10-2008, 02:47 AM
So does it generate packages for you?

Posted by hD-Scott, 06-10-2008, 09:25 AM
you create packages in whm and then also in whmcs. You link the two through your server info. When a customer orders through whmcs, it sends a message to whm to create a user account with specified package automatically.

I read hat you wanted a server in the US, but I have been using heartinternet.co.uk for the past year and found them to be very good. All the best, Kimptonet

Hello, Best solution for reseller is webhostingbuzz and acegx ....

Posted by Harzem, 06-12-2008, 09:19 AM
coeot, looks like no one understood your question about Reseller Pricing Solution Well, I don't have the answer either, but wanted to clarify your question for those who may know. Hostlegal.com sells a product called "Reseller Pricing Solution". Does anyone know what it is, and what its capabilities are?

Posted by coeot, 06-12-2008, 04:13 PM
Yes, thats what I want to know. Last edited by coeot; 06-12-2008 at 04:21 PM. Reason: Spelling

Posted by foobic, 06-12-2008, 09:16 PM
From this, it's a spreadsheet to help you estimate potential profits on reselling. I doubt very much that it will generate packages in WHMCS for you.

Posted by webuff, 06-17-2008, 05:58 AM
i'm also new to reselling...thanks for the info guys. it will help me a lot.
