Getting IP Whitelisted

How do you go about getting your IP whitelisted by popular email providers? I run a private server for just myself and clients.

Hello,
First you should find out if your IP address is blacklisted and why. By example you could check in http://www.blacklistalert.org/. The different lists have rules- by exampe the black list could expire on same date, in some of them you can ask to exclude the IP from the list, the other could ask to pay money to be excluded.

It's a dedicated IP only to me so can't be abused. GMail seems to be find but I'm having issues with hotmail. Logs don't show anything.

Please make sure that you have a proper rDNS record for your mail server. If not then you will have to contact your DC people to add it for you.

Just because it's yours doesn't mean it can't be used to spam but like the rest mentioned, you first need to find out if and where you are being blocked, find out why and what needs to be done to correct it. You have to make sure your ip has a reverse dns record and it wouldn't hurt to implement SPF along side domain keys.

Please check the mail logs and make sure that all the non-existing recipient MSN addresses are removed from your mailing list as well. Hotmail would block the sender if they detect bounce back emails.
