Ratio of cpu to memory in cloud

I noticed that some companies (e.g. Adhost, Server Intellect) that offer cloud servers of various sorts offer a range of sizes, usually with a ratio of one cpu to 1 GB RAM. That seems odd since in typical dedicated servers, the ratio is more like 1:4. Is there something about cloud setups that calls for a 1:1 ratio? Amazon EC2 seems to have 2 to 4 GB per "compute unit," more like a typical physical server you would own.

There is nothing that requires it, it's just a preference of how the provider decides to setup their infrastructure. We have Cloud's that range anywhere from 1:1 to 1:2, averaging 1:1.5
