Hello, I have had problems receiving emails from hotmail as iti is listed on spamcop. Diagnostic-Code: smtp;550-"JunkMail rejected - bay0-omc3-s16.bay0.hotmail.com [65.54.190.154]:17571 550 is in an RBL, see Blocked - see http://www.spamcop.net/bl.shtml?65.54.190.154" http://www.spamcop.net/bl.shtml?65.54.190.154 I do use cpanel/whm on most servers not sure if it is good idea to disable spamcop rbl usage. Any ideas?

Same here. Local government site, the mayor uses Hotmail and it's being blocked on the city site with us because of the RBL. I'm understandably hesitant to remove that RBL from mailscanner.

My understanding is that if you enable DomainKeys DKIM (DomainKeys Identified Mail) there is no hotmail issue. We have DKIM enabled on our servers and have not noticed an issue with our client's email. Anybody able to verify this?

You can raise a dispute listing of blacklist of your iP address 65.54.190.154 in Spamcop.net via below URL: http://www.spamcop.net/w3m?action=di...=65.54.190.154 Also, if there are no reports of ongoing objectionable email from this IP address, it will be delisted automatically in approximately 9 hours.

How will that help Hotmail users sending *to* a non-Hotmail server? Isn't that up to Hotmail to do? AFAIK places like Spamcop need to hear from the provider, not a user of the service.

It's hotmail's responsibility to take care of their problems with spamcop. The best you can do is to forward the rejects to hotmail and let them handle it. Until spamcop lifts the blacklisting then we (you, me, all of us) have to observe it. If you don't observe a spamcop blacklisting then you're not playing ball with spamcop, which makes you part of the problem in their eyes. You can be blacklisted yourself for not playing along with spamcop. It's a lot like the way some churches shun members. You either shun the offending member along with the rest of the church, or find yourself being shunned.

Are you sure SPamcop is blocking your mails? They got their own system which blocks all unknown mailservers and if you want to send mail to hotmail you need to join their program. Half of their pages are broken or do not work, and when you try to remove yourself you get automatic rejection from bot. So probably because of their attitude people started to block hotmail as well. I get something like this: host mx3.hotmail.com [65.54.188.110]: 550 SC-001 (BAY0-MC3-F13) Unfortunately, messages from 159.xxx.xxx.xxx weren't sent. Please contact your Internet service provider since part of their network is on our block list. You can also refer your provider to http://mail.live.com/mail/troubleshooting.aspx#errors. I don't care much because hotmail has most spam anyways so I just tell users to use proper mail service like gmail.

When it clearly states Spamcop in the rejection message, with a link to the explanation at their site, I'd suggest in involves them.

Of course, but I'm trying to send mail to hotmail and I'm not listed on spamcop, that's why I'm saying their service is terrible. I don't want to join their spamlist just so their members can receive mail from my mail server.

This thread is about Hotmail servers being on blacklists and how that stops mail *from* Hotmail being delivered on our servers. If you're having trouble delivering to Hotmail, you need to follow the steps they provide.

This is a list of Hotmails outbound IP ranges: http://mail.live.com/mail/ipspace.aspx If you add those ranges to /etc/skipsmtpcheckhosts (referring to those using cPanel) then your RBL's won't be applied to them anymore. This effectively whitelists Hotmail even though they're listed on SpamCop.

I've noticed this issue for several weeks now.

Yes, you are right. Since the mentioned IP address is belongs to Hotmail, it is their responsibility to whitelist their IP address from Spamcop.

Same problem with Gmail.com servers.
