Biggest Package Best Hosting
Posted by cutabovehost, 09-26-2010, 09:11 PM |
I am looking for a host that has the best reseller deal around.
I could just go with HostGator since they have a nice package with a nice price.
I do however want to be able to do overselling like they do.
Oddly enough they wont allow their customers the same privilege in return.

Well. It is not easy to say about the biggest and the best package for reseller... It depends on your needs and budget.
But if you check on Reselling Hosting Advertisment section you will find what you need

Is this forum actually worth being here? because to be quite honest 99% of posts I see here is “Look in the offers forum” I mean if you want to help people out then provide a link to something in the offers forum that might be suitable for them don't just say look in the offers forum.

I have been perusing the reseller offers. Have not seen anything that struck me yet.
I posted here since then I could get real world feed back about the hosts and not what someone wished to toss out as a selling point.
And it also gives me a chance to see what people have found that might not have made it to the WHT advertising section.

I have been hosting since Y2K and have used HostGator in the past.
I should have mentioned some criteria I guess.
I am looking for overselling for one that was what pushed me away from HostGator as they engage in it but would not allow their clients.
Current setup is:
Info Disk Space 25 GB
Info Bandwidth 500 GB
Info Overselling Allowed Yes
Cpanel/WHM/WHMCS
1 Dedicated IP
And paying $26.95

One thing I am noticing is a total lack of phone support.

Right now I am researching between XeHost and DME Hosting LLC both look like they have a nice offer. I was just about to talk to someone on live chat when they disappeared around 12:26am EST.

Is MDDHosting not good enough
I have no experience with either of your listed, though, what would your budget be and your requirements?
What you have above seems to be what you currently have, not what you desire.

Cutabovehost and ourselves have come to a disagreement and they've decided to go another direction. We wish them the best of luck in their search for a new provider.

Mike offers a wonderful service, so not sure how you could come to a disagreement. Though I am just amazed that even with a really good reputable service people are always looking for that one thing better that they may or may not ever receive.
Good Luck

You need to have a look at ********
They have good priced packages with good client support.(I love their support.)

There is no "best reseller deal". Why don;t you compare the features and pricing of a few hosting providers, then to call them or open support tickets asking questions about their services and then to decide based on their responses.

That is because they do the overselling for you.

Anyone have anymore suggestions?

If numbers are what you're after, then Hostdime/Surpasshosting come to mind too. I seem to recall that overselling was available on request.
Looking at some of the huge allocations that hosts mentioned in this thread are offering, I can only wonder, are they really ready to give their resellers a dedicated server or more for $30-40?
I fear you're setting yourself for disappointment. No host will keep a customer that prices them money. If they need to put 30-40-50 resellers per server to make a good profit, then that's what they will do, and, one way or another, they will make sure you will use as much (or as little) as necessary to make that number of resellers sustainable. If it means targeting your end user accounts for suspensions, or ask you outright to upgrade (read- pay us more), then that's what will eventually happen. That's the positive scenario - the negative one is they let the server overload, and resellers will leave or ask for upgrades on their own accord.

I tried surpassshosting at one time or a client related to them. They did not like me as I always asked them why they didn't update their software regularly. They were very defensive. Most hosts keep their software up to date and you never have to say a word.
I am very aware of the little games the hosts play. I have not had many hosts that I have bought from but I have had roughly around 4-5 since 1999.
Numbers and reputations are what it is all about. The more GB space and transfer I can get the more $$$ I can make before I have to upgrade.
I have been on overloaded servers and some servers that had little action going on and were super fast.
In the end you can't tell what is going on as a customer unless the host lets you know and they usually don't admit to what they are doing and how they are doing it.

I am really confused why some of the people are posting nonsense about not being able to tell a good host from a bad one. Honestly I already am fully aware of that fact it boils down to comparing offers and responses and such. Again to be honest if HostGator did allow overselling I would still be their client. They did have professionals manning support and respected their customers and never had any problems with them. Since I wished to be able to engage in the same tactics that made them what they are there was only one option and that was to find a HostGator alternative.
Sparrow-Sean I will have a good host soon I am sure then I will be able to spend more time on that subject. Currently I am busy evaluating the competition. There is so many people it is like a river. This is nothing like it was in 1999 when I started Advanced ISP.

Just curious if you've had any luck narrowing down your list of providers as you haven't updated this thread in a while.

I get less disk space and bandwidth with TurnKey Hosting than I do with http://www.theprimehost.com/resellers.html.
PrimeHost was almost setup like you would want out of the box with name servers already configured for private name servers already.
So it was just a matter of adding the backups and letting them know they were ready but it took many many messages back and forth to get the backups setup the way they would need to transfer from a prior host.
Talking on chat did not help get things rolling any easier.
Everyone was very friendly and professional so I will tip my hat to them on that.
The TurnKey servers are smoking hot. I got speeds up to 8mbps of transfer sending the file to them and with PrimeHost it was only 1.4mbps so the TurnKey servers get my vote for speed for sure. So it is like the PrimeHost account is capped at a particular throughput.
Even with the super duper Zamfoo program you still have to email support so they can change the permissions of the files so they show up in your account list at least that was the way it was explained to me.
Both will give me a new option of selling to resellers and both are very affordable and both give me ample space to work on filling.
I am however shocked that it seems now days there are many resellers but I see that they offer end user support which is something new to see.
And I would not doubt at all that this is the reason you see so many more resellers than ever.

I have been hosting for so long and have had the misfortune of having to use more than one provider. I never had one that just completely filled my needs forever. Some were down right bad and some just didn't give me enough service for the money so I moved on to offer better and more services to my clients.
In a earlier thread I complained about Surpass Hosting. I complained originally about not having servers upgraded often enough. But after digging into the matter through lots of historical information I found out that way back in 2004/6/9 I used a company called StrikeHosting and I liked them so much that I tried to get them more customers. They were a reseller for Surpass Hosting, and after reviewing my old postings from way back then I found out that my comment was that they actually did have servers with the latest software. Whomever I was using prior to them had to be the one I had ill will with over not keeping current with software upgrades. I did notice in my comment however that there was something about the support that kept me from being a direct client of Surpass Hosting. I don't know if it was lack of phone support or what.
So way back 6 years ago was when it all went down. And after reading further some people were making the comment that HostDime owned Surpass Hosting or something like that based on this comment by t1
I can't edit the original posted comments so I made an attempt to be fair to Surpass Hosting and post this correction with further details.
So I hope this ends the mistaken ambiguity of the posting.
Just as a new fact to note as well strikehosting.com it appears disappeared in 2005 and that is most likely what lead me to becoming a HostGator client for so many years. Had they enabled overselling they would have never lost me.
You have to keep in mind that I have been doing hosting since no less than 2000 and I bought my first domain back when Network Solutions was the ONLY .com .net registrar.
Actually here is a posting I made when I was learning how to use BIND this was most likely when I made the change from a Windows based server running IIS and the Windows DNS server:
https://lists.isc.org/pipermail/bind...er/006838.html
And that was posted on Fri Nov 19 19:03:17 UTC 1999 to be extremely exact about the issue.
So if I seem to get confused a little it is due to the fact that I have been doing it for so long I forget some of the minor details about things. Thanks to Google I can dig way back for a refresher on history.

In my opinion you would make your own survey of the reseller companies which are in your views instead of concentrating on just one company for choosing the best one for yourself.
