new to master reseller hosting-alot of questions...

Posted by sugarmankie, 09-24-2010, 08:19 PM
Good Evening everyone! Im a brand new master reseller customer at k-disk.net and have ALOT of questions regarding multiple subjects that im hoping some of you can assist me with. The Plan I Purchased: EXPERT Master Reseller Plan --------------------------- Disk Space = 90,000MB Bandwidth = 900gb Unlimited clients unlimited databases Overselling Enabled Cpanel/WHM Free Domain Client Exec WHMCS License Free dedicated IP and SSL ---------------------------- Now that seems like a pretty good start to me, i just have so many things that i most likely should have considered planing out before i actually purchased the hosting but thats why im here now. Questions 1. Is End-User Support worth the extra 5 dollars a month if im going to be selling reseller accounts as well as plain cpanel hosting accounts? 2. Are there premade templates available to integrate WHMCS into my site Until i can afford to pay someone to do a complete overhaul to customize the site. Keep in mind i already have around 5 clients interested in cpanel hosting and 2 MAYBE 3 interested in reseller services. 3. Im really haveing issues with thinking up package costs/features, does anyone have any suggestions based on my bandwidth/ space limits? This is pretty much my main issue. 4.since i already have a small potential customer base, what should be my main focus for advertising? For example, should i advertise on forums? Classified adds? Suggestions are GREATLY welcome. 5.How would i go about generateing add revenue with my hosting site? Im sure ill come up with some more questions as soon as discussion begins here = ] Thanks for taking the time to view my thread, im really looking forward to seeing what you all have to say in regards to my questions. Thanks! Justin (bitbytehosting.com )

1] Yes if you do not have much experience 2] Try Themeforest, they sell premade templates which are really cheap 3] You can try comparing it with another host and see whether you can compete with their pricing 4] Yes, the best and cheapest way to get clients is to advertise in forums. Like WHT and other forums, it is totally free and there is no charge. 5] Try Hooking up here Kdisk is a good and reputable company. Good start and good luck mate

ok so i got alot of the small issues in regards to custom site templates, ssl certs, dedicated ips for reselling etc etc mostly sorted out. Now there's another pretty darn important issue pressing on my mind. What should i do about legal issues such as payment fraud, TOS etc? I have already obtained a WHMCS license through my host and im in the the processes of waiting for my ssl certificate to be activated on my domain so i can start setting it up. Is hostlegal.net worth spending the money on for the reseller package as well as the price tool? thanks again everyone! sugarmankie

Yes, end user support it worth the money, unless you are prepared to deal with people emailing you 24 hours a day looking for help and asking how to set up their nameservers, etc.

Most definitely a better way to go especially when you do sound fairly new to this all $5 a month sounds pretty reasonable to me. I like the fact you have some sort of clients base lined up already thats going to be good to start off with. As for the templates I used a fella called Jason he works at thishosting.com you should look him very reasonable with templates and coding them for you just a thought though. From my experience which I might add I am fairly new also but I have found that you really dont need to set out package restrictions unless you just really want to that is and the whmcs will evenly divide your allotted space evenly among your clients. As for the pricing I disagree with anyones comments to comparing with others costs and competing it is always a bad way to do business as it will be hard to compete with those that have been in it for a long time and have money to play with you should really make a decision on how much money you wish to make in profits and add this to you overhead split by the amount of clients you intend to host so like if you want to only host 80 clients the you take your overhead and the amount of profit you would like to see add them and then divide by 80 this is how I have planed my pricing out it will be rough in the beginning but I feel will be worth it in the long run as you grow. hope this helps. SEO your site make it search engine friendly look here for more info on this. Forums is the best way to go but never Spam them! Offer your help with others issues and have a signature directing to your hosting services. BUT NEVER SPAM IT IS NOT GOOD AND WILL HURT YOU IN THE LONG RUN. you could try to post in blogs and also try to localize your marketing, word of mouth goes along way pass out fliers to local businesses. Oh and welcome to the hosting bus.

Just wanted to give an update on my progress on getting my site up and running and opening business. Im pretty familiar with setting up hosting manually now and ive got WHMCS setting up accounts ( almost correctly ) for me now as well. The next few things i need to focus on are the details. I need to configure the emails WHMCS sends out, i need to configure a TOS page, a contact info page, and a lot of misc html editing etc etc. Ive been doing all the editing my self with the exception of Kieth from k-disk providing me with a HUGE help in WHMCS integration ( still working on setting that up Kieth = ] ) http://bitbytehosting.com check it out! ALL constructive criticism is welcome and im down for some suggestions ( based on the priceing/ offerings of my current plans) for the higher end webhosting plans! thanks everyone you all have been a great help. Justin (bitbyte hosting)

If you are going to oversell I think that you need that to have under your control and in this case I think that VPS appears better solution.

Posted by sugarmankie, 09-27-2010, 04:18 AM
well the only pricing thats actual in the billing system and ready to be setup is that of the starter plan. I havn't edited to the site to reflect the true item costs ( other than the starter package ) sorry i should have made that more clear. thanks justin

That really depends on how quick the response times are, and how good the Free End User Support system is, etc. $5 is not that much extra though, so do not expect too much for it.

Posted by XeHSean, 09-27-2010, 09:54 AM
This is very true - definitely ask for more information on this service before you purchase it. If there are no response time guarantees or quality of service guarantees, this feature may be useless

Posted by sugarmankie, 09-27-2010, 02:29 PM
ill look into the response times thanks for the suggestions everyone. I think my site is starting to come together a little bit more im still working on customizing my site some more. I really need to get someone to make me a custom logo and fix a few things ( visual / html related) on the site. Any suggestions are welcome! https://www.bitbytehosting.com/index.html thanks for all of the input everyone! Justin

HUH? He's just starting.. i would highly suggest him staying with k-disk.net till he grows.... A vps would be nice but why start with one if your losing profit at the get go... going with a vps from the start will only increase the loss profit.. IMHO.

Posted by sugarmankie, 09-27-2010, 03:47 PM
Thats why i didn't think it would have been plausible to purchase a vps when just starting out = ]. Also i noticed you do WHMCS integrations SEMOWEB? Im thinking about getting a new template as i have noticed A LOT of other people with my current choice and kind of want to be unique in that sense. How hard would it be for you to migrate my current settings to a new template etc etc and how much would it cost? Im pretty sure you are the one that Keith recommended for this ( That is if your name is Dustin which im pretty sure it is = ] ) so i would love a quote or something once i get a new template. Sorry for the rushed feel of this post im literally walking out the door posting this on my droid ( off to CC registration WOOOO HOOOO!) thanks again everyone, Justin

Justin, Since you asked me the question i can respond or else id get an infraction for asking you to contact me or offering my services :p . How ever i wouldnt need to move the db over such as settings etc since you would be staying with the same host. How ever what it sounds your interested in is WHMCS Integration which runs $35.00 USD.

Posted by sugarmankie, 09-27-2010, 04:05 PM
agreed, ill contact you once i decide on a template = ] thanks justin

you should change your design it look like 97% to k-disk.net before ppl calling you out for template rip llol thats my advice and k-disk had a good plan and money seem reasonable to me

Hello,

Is anyone able to get through to K-Disk.net via phone?

Posted by HostXNow_Chris, 10-11-2010, 11:44 AM
This seems more like a review. No doubt it will be moved shortly.

Greetings,

Posted by RFEHosting, 10-11-2010, 04:00 PM
Did you end up finding some end user support yet? I'm working on starting a hosting biz of my own, and might be interested in this.

Posted by cutabovehost, 10-11-2010, 04:05 PM
I would not use end user support until I get lots of clients and can't do it myself if I were you. Prompt support is crucial in any business. People can also tell when they are being outsourced. And that is not bad so long as the responses are personal and timely and the issue is resolved quickly.

Ahh this us very true, just was a idea that crossed my mind as i was reading this thread. Still working out all my details, thanks for your response, and wisdom,
