crocweb my experience
Posted by ahura, 04-12-2012, 04:20 AM |
I took crocweb and was with it for 13 hours.
It was a great offer for sure, had taken the full year thing.
I could never contact them on phone , but their tickets were answered super fast.
Till I found the cloudflare sends a message to the client saying they got it from crocweb.
Also the r1soft says croc in the url.
Well they said cloudflare would be solved by month end.
I asked if they had a way to back up differently and also if till they solved cloudflare could i stop it from reaching my clients thru packages.
Well they said I shud get a refund.
But when I talked with David and asked that I thought they were fully whitelabel, he was like I felt rude.
Actually if it were nnot for him and them asking me to get a full refund , I would have actually stuck around , I seemed to like them.
But well I got a prompt refund and well I was actually thinking of upgrading , so well .... I will miss them
I wonder why I they woudl choose to have croc in the url in R1soft and why they cant allow a package without cloudflare.

This is a *rare* case where the client was offered a refund when he was actually happy with the services. I really think paying more attention to clients would definitely give Crocweb better opportunities.
I have seen their ads around and they do seem like nice bunch of people. Good luck with finding a new host

Our reseller hosting did not meet his requirements. He wanted a complete white-label solution, however our website and advertisement clearly mentions "White-Label Hostname/rDNS". As advertised, the hostname and rDNS were white-label.
I went over your live chat conversation with David and did not see this part mentioned:
"But when I talked with David and asked that I thought they were fully whitelabel, he was like I felt rude."
Client was recommended a vps or a dedicated server as he wanted a complete white-label solution. A full refund was offered as requested. I really don't see the point of this thread. We were never rude or disrespectful. Good luck with your next host.

Thanks.
I might actually try u guys again if ur cloudflare issue is solved.
Actually if the cloudflare is solved ,an option to use something else to do backups (actually r1soft is not that much of a prob, only the cloudflare email with crocweb was) , u woudl have been perfect.
I might have been happy with just a one month extension, till u solved the cloudflare thing too.Just so that u know.
Anyhow am thinking about eleven2 right now , not sure yet still contemplating.
Hope someone else can match ur ticket response times

I'll be happy to provide you a free month and will contact CloudFlare to modify the company name. They should have it changed within a few days, however we will still provide you a free month. Please note, the R1Soft url cannot be modified.
If you are still interested, please update the billing ticket.

Thats a pretty big oversight on their part, im wondering if they just recently become a certified partner?

All they need to do is update the license key on their end to display something more generic (should only take a few hours). Example instead of Crocweb have it say "your web hosting company" or something along those lines.

They have been contacted already, simply waiting for their response.

CrocWeb seems to have pretty decent technical support. I am really not happy with the "cloudflare" hype. A good tech team along with decent hardwares can perform much better anyway.

It's really starting to become ridiculous.
I stop counting the number of CloudFlare sites that had errors, ran slow, or simply timed out.
Without a doubt, it's just "hype" for sure.
There's a market for it, and a right reason to use a solution like CloudFlare, but far too many are using it because "they" (the unknown mysterious force of the internet) wrote or told them that it was what needed to be done. Most users that I've seen tend to be running little crappy localized sites that neither require nor benefit from a CDN.
I'd much rather have a non-CDN/non-CF site on a single quality server.

I don't know why you keep referring to CloudFlare as a CDN only (we just don't provide CDN services).
In addition, there are many sites that use us without issues at all or error messages. While we do have the occasional service issues in a specific datacenter, error messages can also be triggered by any of the following:
Hosting provider issue (we're not a host)
Actual server issues for a site (something wrong with the site's server)
Local network or ISP issues (not directly within our control)
Upstream provider issues
etc., etc.
