EZPZ Hosting Review

Posted by Jookle, 03-14-2012, 03:52 AM
I Just thought I would leave an overdue review for Dan and EZPZhosting I used EZPZ between August/September 2010 and November 2011 My time with EZPZ was 99.9 % positive I won't go into much detail about the 0.01 percent but will say, It was in regards to the responses I received in the help desk. That was the reason I left and I feel as though I made an unwise choice doing so, the host I went to after EZPZ was completely awful and I just changed over recently to another hopefully this new one will be better but who knows Enough about me time for the review I give the uptime a grade of 10/10 In the 14 months I was with EZPZ I did experience some issues, maybe 4? but they were always dealt with swiftly. and only twice did I fall below the 99.9% threshold and yes I got the next month free I give the support a 8/10 Dan was always really helpful and gave very precise and easy to read responses, only one other member of the staff did so as well. The rest of the answers from other staff I felt were so generic and confusing. Now I will say this though, issues never took forever to get cleared up, it just took a while getting a clear answer at times. The average response times were anywhere from 5 min to hours depending on the time of day who was working and what the issue was. The servers they have are 10/10 These are some top notch machines and very seldom and I mean maybe 2 times did I experience lag that was very noticeable. The end user support I never really used so I can't comment on that at all. The value is 10/10 The bundles EZPZ have are very attractive, honestly I wonder how they do it sometimes I'm not going to turn this into a sales thread or anything but just have a look at his reseller offers. The only thing I find that was slightly annoying was that you can't upgrade at a later time and keep your lifetime coupon. (this may not be the case now if I'm incorrect please correct me) Business Ethics 10/10 EZPZ is very transparent all information regarding uptime/downtimes, server issues are very clearly displaced on their server status page. This is sometime I have very rarely seen, most host don't detail downtimes clearly on their pages. Overall I give EZPZ a 10/10 I know this conflicts with my support review but this of course could be just me. I still believe they were and will continue to be a great provider. I may consider moving back to EZPZ It's to soon to tell maybe I'll contact Dan and work out a returning customer deal who knows, but for anyone thinking of starting a hosting business and needs a good head start EZPZ should most definitely be on the top of your list. Review after review with EZPZ lately.

Thank you for sharing your review on EZPZ. And I am really happy to read your positive experiences with them. A customer left once would return only if he feels they are really worth than any other providers which he had/has been using

Thanks for the review, ezpz is good

I agree with you that they have a lot of good points, to bad about those response times tough making their support less than average compared to some other providers .. from minutes till hours and hours. Like at this moment i have a ticket open for almost 24 hours.

Thanks for the review, I just checked up on their reseller plans, not very attractive regarding their disk space, they range from 5GB to 50GB, within a price range of 12-25 GBP per month (on a month to month pricing). That's very low! Why would anyone buy a reseller plan with 5GB space anyway?

Posted by HostXNow_Chris, 03-15-2012, 07:16 AM
Not everyone tries to run a big file hosting site off a reseller account, instead when so much storage is needed they do the right thing and use a VPS/Dedicated Server. Storage is expensive. The accounts have to be backed up too (even more money).

Because with 5GB with overselling enabled you can host afew sites and would suit a small time web developer who wants to resell some 500MB of space to afew smaller clients fine, Although most average sites use some 100MB... Also when you use SAS drives over SATA that makes it not doable for a provider to offer stupid amounts of space without drasticly overselling the space on the server... Noting that SAS is much better than SATA. Albeit more costly, and smaller drives. It's also best to use RAID-10, not RAID-1 or no RAID at all.

Well there's a common saying around here.... you get what you pay for. If you're looking for 500 gb space infinite BW and all the nice little extras for a whopping 5 $ don't expect it to last to long. What they offer is really reasonable and the space is more then enough for a lot of small hosting providers. I was on their second highest plan running 8 yearly accounts and I never even came close to running out of space but I did turn a profit regardless. Long story short paying a little extra to go with a good host who offers less will always trump going with the cheapest provider offering the world.

Completely agree with that sentiment I have been having issues with one of my current providers (all kinds of nonsense excuses) but we have decided we would rather pay an extra 10% and have moved to EZPZ Hosting Their support response is vastly superior

I love EZPZ.. PERIOD!

Are you saying hardware RAID-1 is slower than no RAID at all?

Posted by gooomba, 03-27-2012, 06:05 AM
No, I think he means it's better to use RAID-10 than [RAID-1 or no-RAID].

Posted by HostXNow_Chris, 03-27-2012, 06:48 AM
I just re-read what kpmedia put and I think you're right -- RAID10/1 is good but not no RAID at all.

What server are you on with EZPZ?

Posted by WTP Admin, 03-28-2012, 02:28 PM
There are a lot of "cowboy" hosts out there offering "Unlimited Webspace" and "Unlimited Bandwidth"... some are genuine, just go careful because there's no such thing as "Unlimited". If a package looks too good to be true, it probably is!

I'm glad to see that most of you are having better experiences than myself. US7 has spent much of the past few days with server loads of 15-20. Right now it's at 43 with about 512 megs of free RAM. The past week saw significant amounts of lag and server timeouts. Tickets have been opened, they're working on it, but my shared clients' sites are dragging ... along with my help desk.

floor9 Your site is also really slow to load. :p Just a little FYI

Just a thought... I can't remember ever seeing a host with so many reviews, add to that how dynamic they are. They have so many good reviews and so many bad ones. Something does not seem natural.

Posted by FRH Dave, 03-28-2012, 02:39 PM
Believe me, I know.

Posted by smerrikin, 03-28-2012, 02:43 PM
Don't get me wrong, they are a great company (Dan and Co. are very knowledgable) and I agree with the positive reviews. They are just having some hiccups with some of their servers right now and all hosts go through this.

I'll be the first to say that server downtime notwithstanding, EZPZ's support of their direct customers has been fantastic. They've gone above and beyond and have even helped with things they shouldn't have to support (such as WHMCS troubleshooting). Dan has always been responsive both in their help desk and on here. Unfortunately their end-user support times have been poor (often on the scale of 6-12 hours for initial response, sometimes longer) and their reliability (at least on US7) over the past three months has been mediocre at best. It seems they always have bad hardware from the DC, or a large-scale DDOS, or another set of bad hardware from the DC, or an abusive user, or email blocked to Comcast, or who knows what else. I think part of the problem may be that if you take their WHT discounts and prepayment credits into account, they're actually one of the cheapest resellers out there. Maybe this attracts a larger quantity of troublemakers / spammers / malware breeders. I understand that any host can fall victim to a DDOS / spammer / IP blacklist / what have you, but it seems to happen an awful lot to EZPZ. At least on US7. So that's my EZPZ summary: Other than the server outages / slowdowns and slow end-user response times, they're pretty good.

EZPZ hosting support is great. Although they are facing some issue with their few server. I really like their service.

RAID-1 still has the same write speed as a single drive but has some increased read speed performance because you can in theory read from 2 drives rather than a single drive.

I think most EZPZ customers in US are facing lots of problems while in UK not. I would say that they provide a very good service for the price but they need to work around some niggles with the software on their servers because there are some interruptions to the service.

Now A Days us7 is worst slowness server emails are not working and support staff is not giving positive reply thay always said its done but issue is there webmail is not working server load is over 20 every time

Posted by FRH Dave, 04-11-2012, 07:23 AM
I was on US7. Server load did indeed seem to be always over 20. Some days it was over 40. This wasn't a one-day or one-week or one-month thing, either. They always had an explanation (R1Soft was having problems, CloudLinux was having problems, the datacenter gave them a bad hard drive, the datacenter gave them a bad RAID controller, DDOS, clogged mail queue, etc) but it was never fixed. The simple answer is that US7 is badly overloaded. They need to move customers to other servers. I've spent the last six months saying "well, EZPZ has a good reputation, so maybe these are just growing pains". I think it's time to amend that to say "something has changed at EZPZ". I can't even say EZPZ had great customer support anymore. They were very helpful with things like WHMCS technical support, which goes beyond what I'd expect a host to help with. But if they truly had good customer service, they would have fixed this problem by now. I've moved my shared customers to a more stable server at a lesser-known provider and the speed difference is night and day. It's too early to say anything about stability, but I've got a good feeling so far. Fortunately most of my customers are on VPSes and dedicated servers, so this wasn't a back-breaking deal. But it's still a major inconvenience.

Ezpz support is great, too bad that the servers always have problems every day. I'm on UK servers, four days that sites are slow loading, load in 20 seconds and the support does not solve the problem. Today I lost 4 customers, because the sites do not load. a week in the panel Rvskin are gone all the email accounts of all customers, and you can not create email. I am tired of hearing every day of my customers complain that the sites are slow, or have problems post. I have trusted ezpz, I hurt. I purchased from Eleven2 eukhost and also are good, no problems. This is the truth.

I've been with them for about a month now, and this does seem to be an increasing issue Equally, the responses from Support are becoming less helpful I've not lost any customers (yet) as the previous provider I was using was worse than this! However, the customers have now noticed how different the providers are (random downtime as against slow loading) There is also an issue with eMail The Support ticket I submitted did not resolve the issue, and was never understood properly The main issue is that only one IP address is being used, as a result when the server is overloaded eMail is at the risk of being lost (and it has occured once already)

Daniel and Justin are both great folks! Problems do happen everytime, even more in a big company with a lot of servers. Just PM Daniel and I'm sure he'll try to fix it for you.
