How Do YOU Back Up?

Obviously everyone has their own backup methods. What do you use? For my linux boxes, I use rsync to an offsite backups server. All backups are sorted by server name, then by date. The backup script then compares the size of the remote data to the size of the local data. If it's different, it tries the backup again. If after the second backup it is still different (by at least 1MB), it will notify me (both through email and Nagios). For my windows boxes, I have an offsite server that I use for iSCSI - I have a backup disk for each Windows box on there. The iSCSI disk is mounted on the server, and I use windows server backup. What are your own homegrown methods? Last edited by OneHost Zack; 08-08-2015 at 12:24 PM. Reason: Formatting was screwed up

Hi, The backup type that I prefer is, having a daily backup as it is with all the new/latest files/folders in it, a weekly retention of each backup copy, and a monthly copy. Three copies are generally sufficient. For windows, what type of data you generally have? Is it VM backup or website backups? because you said windows box, so I am asking.
