Failover clusters? Network Load Balancing?
Posted by lpark1, 07-28-2007, 05:39 AM |
Hi guys,
I have a server which runs some important apps. I want to provide as much availability as I can..in case the server goes done, another one to take the load.
The server is a Win 2k3 one.
I've looked over the net but I don't know which solution should I go for: a Failover clusters or a Network Load Balancing setup.
Can you please help me out here to decide on this?
Tks!

The choice depends on the backend requirements.
If for example you are using a database, then failover is more appropriate than nlbs.
If throughput is the goal, then nlbs is the choice.
Both of course require W2k3 Enterprise Edition.

A short disconnection while switching to the second server would be oke.
