Apache question: max simultaneous connection to single IP
Posted by mvijfwinkel, 07-26-2007, 04:02 PM |
Currently I can only download two files from my website at the same time, I would like this number to be increased to 4 or more.
I've tried looking in the Apache config files, but I cannot find any settings regarding the max connections to ONE ip...

If it is something on the server side, then check to see if mod_evasive is installed. If not, I do not recall any setting in Apache that limits connections per IP.
One thing I have noticed, however, is that browsers sometimes limit the number of files you can download at the same time (e.g. I tend to find myself only being able to download 3 files at a time through IE6; haven't tried on IE7).

This is a setting in your browser. Firefox for instance usually limits it to 2 or 3

You are both completely right, it's my browser that limits the number of downloads.
IE limits it to 2, Firefox to 3 and Opera seems to do more than 3. In any case I could download 7 files at the same time using all three browsers together, so my server doesn't have a limit.
Thanks!

Use a download manager.

You can increase the number of downloads on firefox. Google your question and you will find your answer . I'm not sure off the top of my head.

Hello,
This is for Firefox, open a new browser and type in this about:config in your address bar and try this setting network.http.max-persistent-connections-per-server this setting. this will help you configure your browser to download more files.
