Hi, Your datacenter where you are hosting your website or server should be able to help you with this as they would be having the necessary network/bandwidth monitoring systems in place and can identify and mitigate SYN packets. Alternatively, you can subscribe to a 3rd party service provider who will give you a IP address that you point the domain to, so all traffic gets redirected to one or more of their traffic scrubbing nodes. They will clean the traffic and send only legitimate requests back to your server.

Or look for a provider that offer ddos protection and move so your problem will be solved.

As far as I've understood from your thread it's not DoS but DDoS. In case of DoS you can fix the problem yourself by securing your website (mod_security, naxsi, etc.) but in case of DDoS you really need a DDoS-filtering service provider or DDoS-protected hosting.

Hi, You can configure firewall on your server to deal with this issue, install CSF. Please note, there is limitation to the software firewall. If the attack is a big one, software firewall may not be able to deal with it. You can check the logs to see what page of the site was targeted. You can also contact your server provider for the traffic information when the attack took place.

what is the attack size which you received? if your service is not DDoS protected your hosting may only null route your IP (as a normal manner) to protect their network.

You may be able to simply filter the DDoS on your own server. If that is not possible I would suggest looking at providers that can handle DDoS themselves or simply go with a third party service like cloudflare. With cloudflare you can host your site anywhere and are not tied to any one in certain. If you are not on a provider that advertises DDoS protection and you continuously get attacked they may end up suspending your account at some point.
