How to Create a Rollover

Posted by dwscenter, 11-21-2007, 04:12 PM
Ok I see all the hosting providers are now offering rollovers, can someone please help on how to setup a rollover? I know you would have to have two different hosting providers using different backbones, but how do you have one provider pull the information to the other provider? Any detail information would be greatly appreciated Thanks Tom

Are you speaking of a DNS Roundrobin Failover?

I guess maybe, but lets just say I am a reseller on a VPS and I host www.xyz.com say thru planet hosting, and planet goes down, the www.xyz.com will now switch over to my alternate host so there appears to be no down time to the end client

That would be DNS Failover service. You could go with a company like Netriplex (http://www.netriplex.com/solutions/c..._packages.aspx) Or you could look at something like this: http://www.freebsdwiki.net/index.php...ver_A_records)
