SmartScreen woes
Posted by WebPerfection, 07-11-2008, 11:24 AM |
I'm desperately trying to get my emails accepted by this damned DumbScreen.
I've done a bit of reading. I've set up SPF records, reverse DNS, etc. but it seems that my 'virgin' IP is still being rejected as it's never sent mail before. I've sent an email to to MS as suggested in another thread, which was replied to later on saying "forwarded to our anitspam team"... but I haven't heard back since.
Any ideas what I'm doing wrong? Gmail accepts my emails without any hassle. I'm assuming (read: hope) ISPs are accepting my emails too... I was wondering if anyone has any idea how to test if other providers are accepting my email?
I'm tearing my hair out over this... any suggestions (or emotional support ) greatly welcome!

Oh, one more question:
I provide mail.customer-domain.com to my clients. But the rDNS for the IP used by multiple customers resolves to server.my-domain.com. Is this a problem?

You should wait, once they answer from the "filtering dept" your problem will be
solved after one day.

Well I've been waiting for over 2 weeks. Is that normal?

Sorry to bring this up again, but I still need help!
Still no reply from hotmail...
Can someone tell me what a correct PTR/rDNS record is? Is it such that mail.server.com resolves to 1.1.1.1 and a reverse dns lookup of 1.1.1.1 goes to mail.server.com?
Thanks
