Is there a guide available which can help me in configuring Cisco Switches in Nagios? I am using Cisco WS-C3550-48 switch.

actually, you might find cacti will help you monitor them a lot more effectively - just tell cacti the IP and the community name, that it's a cisco, and you're pretty much good to go!

This depends on what the OP means by "monitoring" the Cisco. Cacti of course is great for monitoring and tracking bandwidth utilization, which Nagios does not do. If the OP is looking for automatic notification of outages then Cacti will not help there. Nagios does, however, have some capability to monitor usage of the bandwidth by parsing MRTG output and this might be helpful if the goal is to alert based on excessive utilization.
