What reseller would suit me?
Posted by kaleshnikov, 09-10-2004, 07:06 PM |
Currently, I have a dedicated box at ServerMatrix. I was thinking of starting a hosting company but I will not do so for another year or more. I do not use more then 50GB of bandwidth but I'd like to have around 100GB of bandwidth with atleast 5GB of diskspace.
I do not need a company that has top-notch support, I know how to handle everything myself. I just need someone that is up 99% of the time and will not go down within a year.
My budget is up to $60 per month. Am I asking for too much?

That is a very reasonable request and I am sure many hosts can accomodate you.

I cannot provide any recommendations but, I am sure just about any host with a reasonable pricing structure would take you on as a potential client.

i would say x1services.com i have been with them for awhile and it has been great. costs are great and you gets lot add-ons. cpanel + , RvSkin, Clientexec Billing Manager(when you get plan 2 +)

I will definetly NOT be going with x1services.com, considering you're most likely working for them.
Besides, 10GB Space & 175 GB Bandwidth for $19.99USD? Please. That is ridiculous.

How refreshing to read a comment like this from someone searching for a reseller account
|

Smooth. You had your signature recommending your host. I seriously doubt there are customers that go around and do that.
Good for the trace, I could register somethinghost.com and have my domains point to its nameservers and say I'm hosted with them.
I'm sorry, but I've been in the hosting scene for a while now. I know the tricks.

You shouldn't be sorry at all Andrej, you should be glad!
damier, you may be innocent, but the fact that 80% of your posts are praising x1services, really doesn't help.

Well that is my current host, and the best one i have been with.

Thanks a lot for all your recomendations!
I'm sorry damier, but I will not go with that host. No host can offer an excellent service at that price.

It's refreshing to read what you have just written Andrej , it's a shame most people think in the opposite direction

Thanks a lot
I'm writing my business plan for the future company, I know what you need to make things work. Offering such extreme resources at a price that is lower then an action figure is unbelievable to me.

I agree lol, we get that reponse maybe twice a year glad to see you are doing some investigating before making the move and helping us but probably now havingt to read one less 'XYZHost SUCKS!" thread.

I've had bad experiences with host, never make a thread though. Any kind of exposure would benefit the company. People are always curious.

I would think you would still want a host with top notch support. You may know how to do everything but lots of things take root access to fix so you are still going to depend on the hosts support to help when things do not work as they should.
Your price range is reasonable so try using the host quote link above to state your needs or look over the offers forum.

Andrej,
Just wanted to clear up some stuff said in here. Damier does not work for us and has been a client for around 5 months. I will admit I have taken much of my time to personally help him, so that may have a lot to do with the special treament and constant praise. I understand your concern, and as others have said around here, your comments are very refreshing.

All joking aside, I hope that you do find a company that fits your needs and works well with your budget. If you are technically inclined (as it sounds like you are), I would recommend a couple dedicated hosting companies.

Andrej:
Just wondering. Why do you need an account when you have your own dedicated server. Am I misunderstanding what you are asking for?
|

Currently, I'm paying $139 a month for the dedicated server. I'm not using a fairly large amount of it, so why not just get a reseller for my accounts?
However, I'm thinking of just selling some accounts at a very low price so it would help cover the cost.

Ah. That explains. I thought you are keeping the server and also stilll looking for a reseller plan even with the dedicated largely unused
