I feel you mean "know where they stand" not "nowhere they stand". I will suggest you to use the search option on WHT and you can get ample feedback about all of them.

I have use Levi1.com before..... around 1.5 months before, their name is e-z-hosting (e-z-hosting.com) While at 2 July 2004, I sign up with them, I move all my customer site to their server.... The setup time for them is ok, within 4 hours... But the server they are using is really unstable, almost one downtime per day, sometime will down for over 10 hours(I think they are sleeping), no matter I send email, I log a ticket....no one will answer you if they are sleeping ~ "With our new revolutionary failover system we have almost 100% uptime as it automatically reverts all domains to a live backup server within 5 minutes of detecting a failure. This is a custom system created for our company exclusively. " This is what they are promise, your site will have a copy in another server, so while the main server is down, the DNS will switch to the backup server...... For the theory, it is a GOOD plan, but the actual thing I have try is..... while the main server down, the domain will point to the backup server, but the backup server didn't have my site there (all of my customers site is gone), so my customers will only see a phase "Your web is currently down..." something... The theory is good, but they didn't perform it out to their customers, I don't know why.... Finally, I have terminate my plan and ask for the refund at 25-july they did refund to me .... this is good to mean they are not going to cheat their customers ~

Along with doing a search on those hosts you should also send presales questions. If you send some test support questions or if they have livechat try visiting it at different hours of the day to test if they are available. You may find out that they aren't around or take a long time to respond.. Good Luck with your search.

I'm currently taking a 1 month free trial with gazzin.com. They set it up pretty fast, around 10 minutes after I submitted the form. I'm currently waiting for my nameservers to propagate, maybe a week or so, I have never had my own private nameservers before, so I dont really know how long its going to take. Gazzin.com provides them for free. Do a search, theres a bunch of threads about some of those companies.

Looking at the wording of your post, you are choosing a host on price. This should not be how you do it. You should choose a host on uptime when your reselling as attractive uptime passes through word of mouth through forums and such over the internet and builds you a nice client base.

craigbrass - there is nothing wrong with choosing a host based on price, so long as your expectations are realistic. There is a trade off - price vs quality of service. Each person must make their choice about which kind of hosting they want to purchase / offer - cheap hosting or quality hosting

I always choose a reseller for his price/stability. There are many expensive hosters giving reseller accounts, but the support is very poor and the uptime is not acceptable (as I read many posts here). So I believe that a Hosting Company must be analised in all ways: 1. Price 2. Uptime 3. Support 4. Features included And not all expensive companies have everything at the top!

Well I suppose it does depend on that. But if you have reliable services at a reasonble price, your client base will grow.

You can have Reliable services at CHEAP costs! Not all cheaper are good, but there are some! I just want one, not "some"! Eheh

Equation is very simple! Lower price, lower uptime Higher price, more uptime

Posted by bluzman32, 08-23-2004, 11:57 PM
As sitespt said before, sometimes that equation isnt always true.

Posted by sitespt, 08-24-2004, 12:35 AM
bart_arg: Never say that equation, you will be surprised many times when you see high costs and BAD service... do not generalize that.

I've had sites with 5 hosts now, not including free ones. The best one by far (uptime, support, etc.) is also the least expensive. The worst one was the most expensive. I won't try to generalize from that, though. Lois

hi there. are low cost host good for nothing or really some low cost host give really excellent service. from my search i found that serverprice.com is an company run by ev1servers and ev1 servers have a good reputation. so does the cost factor does really matter.

Posted by freak, 08-25-2004, 02:41 AM
Lol... Serverprice.com rent their equipments from ev1servers and theplanet, which makes them very unlikely to make a profit if they don't oversell...

About ServerPrice. August there were two outgages (about two hours altogether). I'm pretty happy with them, althoud support is sometimes pretty slow. Now when servers cpu-use started to be ~5% (according to WHM), they started to move clients to other servers. Now things are a lot smoother.. I'd say ServerPrice is better than you think. And one other thing, I asked about the amounts of clients on a server. They said that if you have a lot of space, you'd probably have your own server.. and don't have to share it with others. Levi1.com - Well, I have been a patient customer, but after weeks of terrible downtime, I have requested a refund. Shneur does not answer e-mails, support tickets, or forums posts. It's become terribly clear to me that Shneur does not care about his customers and could care less about setting things straight fairly by issuing a refund for basically a total downtime period. I have e-mailed him multiple times and attempted to contact him in other ways without success. If anyone knows a better way to get ahold of him, I'd appreciate it. I have learned my lesson with this provider. But what amazes me is I have similar accounts with other providers who offer great deals and their servers are rock solid and they provide excellent support and customer service. What is wrong with Levi1? Shneur please issue me a refund and I'll be on my way!
