how can you see this file from shell which is the comand line? Also when the csf is installed on cpanel does brute protection has to be off?

the instructions in CSF website does not help: http://forum.configserver.com/showthread.php?t=212 I tried doing that in an OpenVZ VPS and VPS is still blocking all connections. If CSF is disabled server can be accessed. If its enable NO ONE can access the VPS. I don't know what to do also. I tried to enable CSF in SSH to see where it's stopping: After that the server no longer works Last edited by sharmaine1111; 09-21-2009 at 03:59 AM.

Make sure that the APF + BFD are disabled on the server before starting the installation.

I know now what this is. Im pretty sure there is something wrong with the vps node (not your vps). You have to contact your host. Usually its iptables modules problem in the vps node.

i had observe since i had installed csf the most of the times the vps is overloaded. especially the dynamic sites joomla forums before the server was about 0.70 0.80 load today is about 6-7 load and as a result takes ages for the pages to load. Does it requires any special adjustments that thing?

Have you tried looking at the security level, usually this indicates what you need to do. Are you operating cPanel/WHM?

Firewall Security Level what it should be? Low, Medium or High Currently it is low. i am using VPS Virtuozzo cPanel 11.25.0-R44718 WHM 11.25.0 - X 3.9 CENTOS 5.4 i686 virtuozzo

the higher the level is,more secure your vps would be,so keep it to the highest level

There is no "best" configuration. What configuration you should use depends on what services you need to provide and what your security needs are. Those are things that only you know.
