APF over-ambitious

Posted by Skeptical, 05-15-2010, 06:20 AM
I have APF turned on, but for some reason it gets greedy and blocks clients who transfer lots of files or fails to log in after a few tries. Do you guys know how I can raise this limit so that APF doesn't block legitimate traffic?

Check that /etc/apf/conf.apf has the option RAB= set to 0, do you have BFD also installed? if so try run # tail /etc/apf/deny_hosts.rules See if maybe some of the FTP users are getting blocked for invalid logins, you can optionally change the TRIG value in /usr/local/bfd/conf.bfd to help relieve some of the issue.
