need feedback: anonymous server names, etc

Posted by RyanD, 09-10-2004, 02:26 AM
We're working to streamline and improve our reseller offerings to go with the launch of our new site and were looking for some feedback. 1) Would you as a customer absolutely want an "anonymous" server name ie super234.server1234.com as oppposed to rs1.wiresix.com ? 2) We operate a distributed dns cluster if you wish to take advantage of this the machine names are *.wiresix.com if someone was to connect to them but the ips for your name servers will not reverse. How would you feel about this? That is all for the time being, also if there is anything that you don't see int he reseller market today that you would like to see available to you let me know we're looking for feedback in general and where you would like to see reselling head in the future

I would want the following if reselling: 1) Anonymous server name - this is so that resellers clients won't see an obvious link back to the resellers hosting co' - makes the reseller look like they are their own host (unless the clients dig around in the whois etc) 2) Private nameservers / ip's that will rdns. - Probably for the same point above, makes the reseller look more like a host. I know there is no need as all mail goes out on the same server ip, but it's becoming a must for many resellers. 3) IP for ssl cert A lot of new resellers would appreciate the following: 4) plenty getting started tutorials 5) A billing system / ticket - but with SUPPORT - All this for only $4 monthly

Maybe the sarcasm didn't come across as intended

My feedback: 1) Would you as a customer absolutely want an "anonymous" server name ie super234.server1234.com as oppposed to rs1.wiresix.com ? Yes For sure. Rather would prefer Full anonymous server. 2) We operate a distributed dns cluster if you wish to take advantage of this the machine names are *.wiresix.com if someone was to connect to them but the ips for your name servers will not reverse. How would you feel about this? For sure would like to have reverse DNS. Also would like to have dedicated IP for Nameservers, that should reverse. Other than that, would need email and DNS redundancy. Would for sure require more than one email server.
